The one where I can’t think of a title

Is it plagiarism if I’m only stealing from my younger self? I’ve raked my brain for something new and come back with something already shelved. Single lines on loose-leaf paper — tangible, tangential thoughts. Panicked bursts of something born when I feel overwrought. I’ve been laying in my bed for months just sort of wasting away. And if my muscles atrophied, I think it started with my brain. I can barely bridge the gap between what’s right and insane and I’ve got more days than I don’t where I feel like I’m just a stain — a blemish on this earth that God forgot to clean up, like a fucked up Captain Kirk I’m waiting to be beamed up.

Today was a little different. I opted to open up Medium and just kind of write whatever I started writing. The first line of whatever that is came to me while I was on my walk just about an hour ago. Today’s Basement Show at the Brain Cellar spotlight goes to another You, Me, and Everyone We Know song. This time it’s “(Still) Basically A God.”

Until tomorrow.
